an official product of the Games, Great Wall Lubricating Oil Company - part of
oil giant Sinopec - will provide lubricants and related services to the Beijing
Olympics and Paralympics, the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the
XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG), and the Chinese Olympic Committee. "Our
selection as the official lubricant for the world's most influential sports event
will greatly improve the Great Wall's international image, strengthen our competitive
edge in the global market and promote the development of Great Wall," said
Sun Yunchang, company president of Great Wall Lubricates. Sinopec Senior Vice-President
Wang Tianpu said: "After the co-operation with the F-1 Chinese Grand Prix
in late September, the Olympic partnership is another breakthrough for Sinopec's
sport marketing strategy. As China's largest energy provider, Sinopec will continue
to contribute to Olympic development in China and economic development,"
stressed Wang. BOCOG
marketing department Vice-Director Yuan Bin said the selection of Great Wall as
the official Olympic lubricant indicates the full recognition of the Sinopec flagship
brand's technical strength, advanced production and management and reliable service.
Great Wall Lubricating Oil's annual sales will exceed 1.2 million tons and commands
a one-third market share. It has taken a foothold in the international market
as the fourth largest lubricating oil company.
