Monthly statistics released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) on April 9 show that auto yield and sales volume in March each exceeded 1 million vehicles, establishing a new historical record. And the yield and sales of home-made automobiles together amounted to over 2.5 million ‿better than expected.
According to statistics, the number of home-made automobiles sold in March reached 105,660,000 - a record high; and the production and marketing rate reached 101.83%. The sales volumes of passenger and commercial vehicles were almost record-breaking, reaching 700,500 and 356,100 in the same month respectively.
In the first quarter, the sales volume of home-made automobiles was 2,578,700, an increase of 21.42% over the same period last year. The growth rate in commercial auto sales was 24.06%, and higher than in the same period last year; while the growth rate of passenger vehicles sales was 20.41%, and slightly lower than the same period of 2007. The rate of automobile production and marketing in the first quarter was relatively high at 102.36%.
