On April 17, in the Forum "Automotive Manufacturing in China -- OEM & Supplier Strategies in the Next Decade", Zhang Ji，vice director-general of Department of Electromechanical Product Import&Export Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, expressed China auto export has maintained a high growth rate of 88% in the first quarter of 2008, and according to this growth rate China entire vehicle export is expected to exceed 1 million in 2008.
Zhang Ji said, in accordance with statistics released by WTO, auto trade has occupied 10 percent of the total trade amount. The China auto products export amount currently only account for 1.5 percent of the total share, so there is still much room for growth.
Nevertheless, In 2007 China's automobile import and export trade was still in deficit, annual imports amounted to 26.2 billion US dollars while the export 24.5 billion US dollars. Moreover, affected by Chinese currency yuan's appreciation, industry insiders predicted that China auto export will be certainly influenced in 2008.
But according to Zhang, although above factors exist, China auto export also have the advantages in the domain of low-end sedan, buses, trucks and auto parts.
