A strong quake measuring 8.0 on the Richter scale jolted Wenchuan County in southwest China's Sichuan Province on May 12.
In Sichuan alone, a total of 31,978 people were killed since Monday's deadly 8.0-magnitude earthquake, with 209,905 others injured.
Domestic and overseas donations to China's quake-hit areas totaled 8.945 billion yuan (US$1.3 billion) as of Sunday noon, according to the Ministry of Civil Affairs.
China leading bus manufacturer Yutong firstly donated RMB 1 million when the earthquake occurred and is likely to send rescue volunteers to quake-hit area. Another China Coach giant KING LONG firstly donated RMB 280,000. HIGER BUS Company firstly donated RMB 100,000 and employees in HIGER have totally donated RMB 234,233. Chongqing Hengtong has donnated nearly 1 million money and material. Beiqi Foton has so far donated more than RMB 1 millon to Sichuan. Youngman Coach has donated RMB 1 million. Yaxing Bus donated RMB 68,000 to quake-hit area.
It is estimated that more financial and material aids are expected to be donated to the quake-hit area.
