According to reports, in order to solve environmental protection problems, China's Shanghai is expected to implement Natinal 4 Emission Standard by the end of 2009 after Beijing firstly implemented National 4 Emission Standard earlier this year.

At present, according to a survey conducted by Shanghai Environmental Protection Bureau, Shanghai Police Station and Shanghai Municipal Transportation Bureau, 413 vehicles' emission, which among 14,430 checked vehicle, have surpassed the emission standard.

The regulation is meant to improve Shanghai's air quality and protect Shanghai’s environment.
