Bangkok to Import Chinese Fuel-Efficient Models
english.Chinabuses.com 2008-6-16

Yontrakit Corporation, which is locate in Bangkok, planning to import fuel-efficient vehicles from China after having success with the marketing of small budget cars from Malaysia, said an auto industry source.

Negotiations are under way with many automakers in China to import any type of vehicle that is fuel-efficient or compatible with alternative fuels. However, they must have good designs, offer value for money and be equipped with simple technology that makes maintenance easy.

The source declined to say which brands Yontrakit was interested in but said it wanted to wrap up negotiations before the start of the Bangkok Motor Expo in December.

The plan to import vehicles from China is part of Yontrakit's new policy to widen its lineup to cover every market segment. Focus will be placed on distributing vehicles running on alternative fuels.

Market surveys are being generated to determine what forms of vehicles consumers like or want to buy, including more exotic models such as limousines and supercars.
