Bosch’s Technology to Control Emission
english.Chinabuses.com 2008-6-19

A successful Bosch product is celebrating an anniversary. The automotive supplier will produce the 100 millionth Motronic control unit for gasoline engines at its production plant. This figure documents the huge success of a system which was first put on the market by Bosch back in 1979. The Motronic presented at that time still serves as the technical basis for all current and future generations of engine control units. Motronic made it possible to combine the control of fuel injection and ignition in one digital system. Proven 100 million-fold today, Motronic and its variants are a major factor in ensuring not only reliable, but also economical, low-emission engine operation.

The current Motronic ME(D)17 serves as a joint platform for both diesel and gasoline control units. It can be individually adapted to the customer's needs and the requirements of various market segments. For example, in combination with gasoline direct injection, in the stratified-charge mode DI-Motronic contributes to improved mixture processing, and therefore ensures low fuel consumption and up to 15 percent lower carbon dioxide emissions. Motronic variant also creates the conditions for clean propulsion in engines with intake manifold injection and two to four cylinders. And Motronic can also be adapted for use with alternative fuels.

The Bosch Group is a leading global supplier of technology and services. In the areas of automotive and industrial technology, consumer goods and building technology, some 260,000 associates generated sales of 43.7 billion euros. The Bosch Group comprises Robert Bosch GmbH and its roughly 300 subsidiary and regional companies in over 50 countries.
