The date of July 23 has special significance for Ankai. It was on July 23 that State Intellectual Property Office announced the integral designed body of Ankai bus passed the Patent Authentication. Since then, the integral designed body that Ankai developed independently has obtained patent protection.
According to the Patent Law of the People’s Republic of China, innovations for which patent right may be granted include inventions, utility models and designs. The integral designed body is awarded with the main inventive patent, characterized by highest technology, longest protection period and strongest market power. From then on buses in other brands can not use the integral designed body at their like. Neither can they employ “integral designed body” for product promotion.
Though it seems that this grant will not strike a mortal blow to those bus companies which want to use “integral designed body”, for this kind of bus only possesses a limited market share. Thus, this grant is unable to send shock waves through the bus market. However, with safety awareness of State and customers increasing, safety characteristic of integral designed body will become salient and this technology will certainly have swift development. In June, Zhejiang Province Road Transportation Administration held one Provincial Security Conference, on which propel of safety vehicle project was defined as the primary object and integral designed body the main option. The conference requested that intra-provinces bus with integral designed body should win 80% market share of Zhejiang Province in the year of 2012. Other provinces are also interested in following Zhejing Province to apply bus with integral designed body in the entire province. Taking full advantage of its own safety strength, bus with integral designed body wins such golden opportunity. Ankai, by possessing this invention, will inevitably achieve success. However, other domestic bus companies whose dream about integral designed body collapsed have to take a different approach.
