China Buses Industry: Accelerating Development in 2008
english.Chinabuses.com 2008-11-03

China buses & coaches manufacturers are all preparing to compete at a higher level with the rapid economic development in China. Some like Yutong and Golden Dragon are going to upgrade their parts and accessories, and production lines. Yutong is also keen on further developing the Russian bus market. Other bus makers are turning to enhance their variety of products. Shaolin Auto Co Ltd, which topped the Chinese medium bus market with an annual increase of 30 percent, will enter the intercity and touring coach market. It also completed the first period of its coach-making project, which cost one billion Yuan (US$130.2 million), and has an annual production capacity of 3,000 coaches. After completing this entire project, Shaolin hopes its total product value will rise to 1.5 billion Yuan (US$195.35 million) per year.

Currently, China already has 25 million motor vehicles, and that number is expected to grow to 50 million by 2010 and 150 million by 2020.
