Hankook Tire, one of the fastest growing tire makers in the world, received two awards for the design of its enfren and Optimo 4S tires at the iF Product Design Awards 2009, one of the world’s leading design competitions organized by the International Forum Design. The environmentally friendly tires enfren and Optimo 4S are the first tires ever to receive this prestigious design award. They were both awarded in the ‘Transportation’ category, based upon its technology, environment friendliness, functionality, safety and design quality.

The tires are recognized independently for their quality and performance in terms of the environment and fuel efficiency, and the innovative tires are the result of Hankook Tire’s consistent investment of 5% of revenue into its Kontrol Technology program, one of the highest proportional of R&D investment in the tire industry. The enfren tire is a new fuel efficient, environmentally friendly tire launched in Korea reduces rolling resistance by 21% and improves fuel economy by 2%, according to the Korea Automotive Technology Institute.  The Optimo 4S is currently the only tire in the world and first all-season tire ever to receive the famous German eco-label, the Blue Angel.
