The news from " national rural network pilot project working conference of passenger traffic" hold in Langfang City of Hebei province on November 5, the 14 experimental areas of 7 provinces from the east, middle and western part probed new way actively in the rural network building-up work of passenger traffic, having made in varying degrees progress separately, the beginning is good.

As one of the 4 demonstration projects of the Ministry of Communications, "The rural network pilot project" has obtained sheer development since developing in March of this year. Though the pilot project has been influenced by many factors, such as SARS, etc., but the experimental areas worked very hard, strived for the support from the local government actively, a lot of areas all issued the documents in the name of government, changed the department behavior into the government behavior, social behavior. Meanwhile, the official in all parts has worked out the development plan scientifically, established the solid foundation for the development of the rural passenger traffic. In the concrete implementation work, a lot of areas have made in varying degrees progress; Langfang, Hebei province has overcome the financial difficulty in the building-up work of rural station, has designed the unified design, and already built up 8 simple stations, every job is going on without any confusion at present; Zhejiang Province brings the rural station of passenger traffic into the unified planning of rural highway construction (reconstruct), implementing in step, and tried the integrated development model of public transit in urban and rural areas actively; Kailu Country of Inner Mongolia has defined the thinking of development of building road later, opening the traffic first and then perfecting, let the numerous of peasants and herdsmen enjoy convenient first. Other experimental areas have carried on positive exploration and marketization practice adapting the working method to local conditions according to local different situations too.

Mr. Wang Yingjia, the vice chief of Highway Department of the Ministry of Communications says in summarizing that the rural work of passenger traffic is a system engineering, every experimental area should continue making great efforts on the basis of making valuable experience, learning from each other, exchanging each other, offer the basis for researching and making the corresponding policy of industry, promote the rural passenger traffic developing steadily and healthily on the existing basis.
