In order to advocate using the clean energy, Chongqing takes measures to bring about an advance in compressed nature gas auto (Hereafter referred to as CNG auto) actively. These measures mainly consist of guiding and encouraging the taxi whose service lifetime already expired in whole city to be upgraded to the single fuel or double fuel natural gas auto; guiding and encouraging the diesel oil bus of medium and short distance to be refitted for the single fuel diesel oil natural gas bus; guiding and encouraging the sanitation vehicle, municipal vehicle to be refitted for the natural gas vehicle; taking measures to accelerate the construction of natural gas station further, forming the rational natural gas station network distribution between the inner-city, main city zone and district, city along with the country as well as the adjacent province and city.

Chongqing developed the CNG auto 4 years ago, is the city that starts the CNG project earliest and with the best development foundation, but the development speed is very slow, up until now there are only less than 8000 CNG vehicles and 35 CNG stations in the whole city.

In order to change the situation of refitting the petrol auto for CNG auto developed slowly, Chongqing actively develops the technical research on gas automobile engineering, for the moment has already grasped the majority key technology of the natural gas automobile industry and offered dozens of items of performance test and appraisal successfully for a lot of large-scale automobile enterprises such as China FAW Group Corporation, SAIC-Volkswagen Co., Ltd. etc. The engineering level of CNG vehicle, CNG station complete equipment, nature gas cylinder and gas selling machine as well as high pressure valve that Chongqing developed are in the leading position at home, the scale of industry has already taken shape tentatively. Before this, the State Ministry of Science and Technology has already approved setting up the domestic only national-level gas automobile engineering research center in Chongqing. To the latter stage of" the tenth Five-Year Plan" from this year, Chongqing will be turned into the national CNG auto production base, and offering technology and industry support for popularizing and applying the national natural gas automobile.

In order to attract people to use the clean energy auto, from December 4 to the 6th, Chongqing held the national clean automobile itinerant exhibition in Chongqing technology centre, 16 clean energy auto demonstration cites such as Beijing participated in this exhibition.
