China's State Administration of Environmental Protection (SAEP) will issue the State Implementation Program for Environment-Friendly Motor Vehicles, giving specific stipulations on various indexes of air pollution inside the vehicles.

This is a legal document issued by the Chinese Government concerning interior pollution of motor vehicles.

Source with SAEP said that the administration has started soliciting opinions on the program from the public on limit standards of pollutants inside vehicles such as HCHO, C6H6, C7H8, C8H10 and TVOC.

The source disclosed that the program is likely to become effective this year.

The SAEP source said that the present Law on Air Pollution Prevention and Control and the Law on Noise Pollution Prevention and Control are the legal basis for prevention and control of pollution made by motor vehicles, but they lack definite and clear stipulation for many circumstances.

SAEP is now working on Rules on Prevention and Control of Pollution by Motor vehicles, which are expected to be issued during the 11th Five-year Program (2006-2010).
