China's Roads and Transportation Condition

China's comprehensive highway network reaches every part of the country. All town and counties are easy to reach through the development of the highway system, with nearly 1.278 million km stretching across the country. China is currently investing significant funds in creating and improving its 1.76 million kilometers of highways. All China's tourism cities have good transportation and communication facilities.

China's long distant bus system has several advantages.

First, it goes actually everywhere. Remote regions, especially in the west, are often inaccessible via train or plane, in those areas, bus become the primary means of transportation.

Second, bus tickets are often easier to purchase than train tickets, for buses are plenty and they are not in such high demand among Chinese travelers.

Third, bus travel is often cheaper than train travel of the same distance.

Almost all major cities and towns have long distant bus stations and tickets are sold at the bus station itself and need not to be booked in advance. Unlike trains, Chinese long distant bus does not sell tickets for different classes within a single vehicle. However, tickets prices vary according to the condition of the bus.

Public bus

Actually all major cities has comprehensive public transportation network and in some big tourism cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Xian and Guilin, public transportation reach all corners of the city proper.

Most of buses run from 6 am to 11 pm having a small portion with 24 hours service. Fares rang usually from one Yuan to three Yuan depending on the length of route or the bus condition, in most cities, one Yuan for a non -air-conditioned bus and two Yuan for an air-conditioned one.

In major tourism cities, destination is reported in both Chinese and English. Make sure you get off the right stop for if you miss a stop, the next one won¡¯t come along for quite a while (bus stations are spaced very far apart, much father apart than that in the west.. Main attractions in and around tourism cities are accessible by public bus. Take Beijing for example, there are several bus routes to the Great Wall, which prove to be very convenient to visitors.

Tourist Bus

In some of the tourist cities, special tourist bus lines are designed for visitors to tour the main sights in and around the city. Almost all the tourist buses are air-conditioned and fares differs according to the length of the routes.
