Statistics published by the National Tourism Administration (NTA) on Sunday shows that during this May day holiday the number of the national road transport volume received 344 million person-times, increased 6.5% compared with the same period of last year.

The officer of national ministry of communications told to the journalist that during the May day holiday, the peak road transportation accurred on May 3 and 6, respectively, to complete the passenger volume of 49.6 million and 50.5 million person-times.

The seven-day holiday week has become a virtual opportunity for the development of China's tourism market despite disputes about the rationality of the "Golden Week, " which has exerted great pressure on transportation, catering and hotel and tourism infrastructures, according to relevant experts.
