Profit from China's auto industry reached 23.25 billion yuan (US$2.9 billion) in the first four months of this year, surging 88.65 percent from a year earlier.

Among it, profit from the vehicle manufacturing industry grew the fastest with 153 percent to 11.9 billion, contributing 66 percent to the auto industry's profit.

The auto component industry made 7.6 billion yuan in profit, growing 46.84 percent from a year earlier.

The increasing profit of the vehicle manufacturing industry is mainly due to the growing sales and stable prices of vehicles in the four months.

In the period, the country sold 2.4 million vehicles, growing 33.48 percent, among which auto accounted for 1.7 million, growing 50 percent from a year earlier.
