The first order of 60 zero emission FAW-Hongta MPV electric passenger vehicles for U.S.-based Miles Automotive Group was prepared for shipment on May 25, 2006. The FAW-Hongta MPV electric auto vehicle combines the solid comfort and safety features of a standard passenger vehicle into a reliable emissions free package that is affordable to purchase and operate. These environmentally friendly automobiles are a product of FAW-Hongta Yunnan Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd., a FAW Group subsidiary, and Tianjin Qingyuan Electric Vehicle Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Tianjin Automobile Industrial (Group) Co., Ltd..

Tianjin Qingyuan holds a leadership position in the global development of electric vehicles with cutting edge proprietary technology that offers extended range and smart charging battery management. Founded in 2001, the company's products take advantage of revolutionary technology developed under the Ministry of Science and Technology's No. 863 electric vehicle research program, a cutting edge national level high tech R&D initiative.

Based on the popular FAW "Jiaxing" MPV, these modern electric vehicles are a joint development between FAW-Hongta and Tianjin Qingyuan. FAW-Hongta supplies finished vehicles less the conventional engine to Tianjin Qingyuan for final installation of the advanced electric powertrain. The vehicle's optimized drive system, including motor, controller, and battery, features proprietary technology from the 863 Project that greatly minimizes power consumption.
