Changsha Leads China on R&D of LNG Vehicle

One LNG Vehicle, comply with national industry and energy policy, has been developed successfully in Changsha, report from National LNG Auto Technology Communication and Promotion Conference in Changsha, and also been put into demonstrated operation. This vehicle, which with independent intelligence property and of completely domestic made, indicates that Changsha has leaded China on LNG auto R&D

The two problems of Oil price rising and gas emission pollution have became the bottleneck to restrict China economic persistently and healthily development, and to develop new energy vehicle and substitute energy is the solution of these problems. In this context,Changsha formally start up LNG vehicle research in 2003 and take it as the key science and technology project of Changsha public utility. With the great support of Science and technology department, this project was accomplished and vehicles are put into operation now.

It is reported that, based on the existed technologies and resources, in cooperation with domestic related institutes, parts and whole-vehicle manufacturers, auxiliary equipment manufacturers, Changsha developed and produced 52 completely domestic-made LNG vehicles with independent intelligence property. After put into operation on Line 168 and 103, these vehicles have good performance on the aspects of saving energy and reduce pollution etc. one LNG bus could save 23%-33% energy fee than the same kind of oil bus, manager of Changsha LPG head office said, if all 2481 buses in Changsha use nature gas, it would save 75,000,000(RMB) per year.

On July 15,the chief of National Clean Auto Action Leading Group, State Council counselor Shi Dinghuan confirm the achievement by Changsha insisting on independent research and development, and hope the other demonstrated cities could use for reference. Vice mayor Huang Zhongrui said, along with this technology put into industrialization , LNG vehicles characterized with environmental protection would reach quite scale up to 2010.
