of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), and Jilin
Provincial Chamber of Commerce, FAW Group took
great privilege in hosting the "China Proprietary
Automobile Brand Development Forum" on
September 15. The forum is one of several activities
taking place during the "Northeast China
Brand Promotion & Rejuvenation Tour"
in Jilin Province.
"Through
brand appraisal, promotion, and protection,
the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic
of China is carrying out activities with the
aim of narrowing the gap between Chinese automotive
industry and that of developed countries. We
hope that Chinese automotive manufacturers can
use this forum as an opportunity to both explore
new ways of increasing the exports of Chinese
brand vehicles and promote the steady upward
development of national car and truck industry,"
said Wei Jianguo, vice minister of commerce.
Li
Jinbin, vice governor of Jilin Province, made
a presentation on the state of the automotive
industry in Jilin Province, noting the robust
development of the area's domestic car and truck
brands in recent years.
Representatives
from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers
announced the production and operational statistics
of the country's automotive industry from January
to August. Sales of Chinese proprietary brand
vehicles represented 56.5 percent of total sales.
On
behalf of FAW Group president Zhu Yanfeng and
CPC secretary Zhao Fangkuan, vice president
Jin Yi expressed his greeting to the forum's
distinguished leaders, industry experts, automobile
manufacturer representatives, and media journalists.
Jin Yi gave a presentation about FAW Group,
introducing the company's exciting R&D achievements
and innovation strategies in its ongoing eleventh
5-year plan (2006-2010).
Representatives
from Harbin Hafei Automobile Industry Group,
Brilliance Chiina Automotive, Chery Automobile,
Great Wall Motor, and Liaoning SG Automotive
Group also spoke of their latest progress in
the field of research and development.
Throughout
the discussion, all representatives were in
agreement that the development of Chinese proprietary
automobile brands is the dynamic challenge facing
the country's automotive industry today. All
agreed that the strategies, both short-term
and long-term, that hold the answers will also
help to shape Chinese vast automotive industry
into a major force in the global market.
