CHINA reported a nearly 70 percent jump in profit of the auto industry during the first three months of this year, said the Ministry of Commerce yesterday in Beijing.

Several of the country's major auto makers reaped a combined profit of 12.75 billion yuan (US$1.7 billion) in the first quarter, a jump of 69.9 percent from a year before, the ministry said.
