Jingzhou
Henglong Automotive Parts Co. has a one-year
contract to supply power steering systems to
FAW-Volkswagen Automobile Co.
In May, Jingzhou Henglong, a subsidiary of China
Automotive Systems Inc., delivered the first
batch of power steering systems for use in FAW-Volkswagen¡¯s
Jettas.
Jingzhou Henglong has an annual capacity of
800,000 power steering sets, the company says.
Sales in 2006 were approximately 344 million
yuan ($45 million). The power steering sets
are produced in China.
In 2006, Wuhu Henglong Steering Sytems Co.,
a joint venture of Chery Automobile Co. and
China Automotive Systems, was established, with
production to begin in 2007. China Automotive
Systems owns 77.3 percent of the joint venture.
The company has an annual capacity of 300,000
power steering sets.
Together Jingzhou Henglong and Wuhu Henglong
have a combined capacity of more than 1 million
steering sets annually.
In 2006, China Automotive Systems established
a North American office in Troy, Michigan.
Jingzhou Henglong beat competitors ZF Shanghai
Steering Co. and FAW Koyo Steering Systems Co.,
to win the FAW-Volkswagen contract.
Jingzhou Henglong was founded in 1997 in central
Hubei province.
