International Urban Rail Transport Expo, which
begins today in Shanghai. At right is a subway
vehicle destined for the city's Metro Line 6,
expected to be launched at the end of this year.
The country's first domestically made Metro
vehicle (left) will also be displayed at the
three-day event. The manufacturer, Shanghai
Rail Traffic Equipment Co, said 85 percent of
the train's parts are made in China. The first
such six-car train will be put into use on Metro
Line 9 around the end of the year.
