Changan
Automobile Co's president Xu Liuping said the
company has set its 2010 auto production and
sales targets at two million units, making it
the second Chinese automaker after First Automobile
Works Corp setting the same ambitious goal.
Changan-brand
vehicles with independent intellectual property
rights are expected to reach 1.2 million units
by 2010, 60 percent of the total. To achieve
this goal, the company will build 12 vehicle
development platforms, seven for sedans and
five for economy auto vehicles, and five engine
development platforms.
By 2010, Changan will release 31 Changan-brand
vehicles including sport utility vehicles and
sports cars, 60 percent of which will be sedans.
These vehicles will be 3.3 to five meters long,
and their displacements will range from 0.8
to 2.2 liters.
