is mulling a plan to develop 380 units EuroIII standard environment protection

Transport Week" starting ceremony on September 17, 2007. The
theme of 1st "Xiamen Public Transport Week" is "Green Traffic and
Health". According to principal of Xiamen Municipal Transport Committee,"Green
Traffic System is a sustainable traffic which is suitable for modern city dweller`s
environment development. "Developing
activity of "Public Transport Week" poses high requirement on Public
Transport Companies." according to the introduction of Ye shunjin, vice general
manager of Xiamen Public Transport Group, "In order to facilitate the outgoing
of citizens and in collaboration with Xiamen municipal Transportation Committee,
Xiamen is planning to develop 380 units Euro3 standard environment protection
Buses ,constructing commodious and comfortable passenger environment, and quickening
the intelligentized step of Xiamen Public Transport." However,
What measures should Xiamen take to quicken its Public Transport development.
A reletive principal whom journalist has interviewed expressed Xiamen Municipal
Government will take several measures involving perfecting Public Transport infrastructures,
building high speed Transport system, and operating BRT Transport lines etc. It
is learned Xiamen Municipal Government will allot RMB61 million to Public Transport,
encourage Public Transport Group to adopt buses which quipped with EuroIII standard
engine and new-typed chassis to improve the hardware of Xiamen Public Transportation.
