the period of 2008 Beijing Olympic Game, there will be 50 units electric buses
drived in Olympic villlage, sports venue and media village, providing services
to both sports athletes and working staff. Green
Technology--Will be the firstly large-scaled use of Li-ion battery electric bus These
electric buses served for Beijing Olympic Game are Li-ion battery powered electric
buses which have been designed and manufactured by Beijing Institute of Technology
professor Sun fengchun and his team. Sun told reporters, " Since 1972 Munich
Olympics, electric vehicles appeared almost each time on the Olympic Games, but
these Beijing Olympic electric bus will be the most advanced electric vehicle
in the Olympic history. The technologies of these 12-meter-long electric buses
has attained world-class level." Sun added:" There are 50 units electric
buses to serve Beijing Olympic Game, and will be the firstly large-scaled use
of Li-ion battery electric bus." Independent
property rights--owning the core technology of power system and Li-ion battery
Through
these years endeavor, after investigated many electric vehicle power systems from
abroad, Sun and his collegues combined control system of magnetic motor and the
high efficiency of China's rare earth permanent magnet motor, thus lowering the
cost of the power system of electric vehicle. After
solved the problem of power system, the next step is to figure out the defects
of battery. Tranditional battery has the fatal weakness such as easily inflammable
and explosive. Nowadays, in collaboration with technologicl researchers, China
battery company has developed a manganese oxide cathode materials for 100 Ah Li-ion
battery. Owning
independent property rights of power system and Li-ion battery enables China electric
bus to walk into the international leading position. The
utilization after Games--mainly being used for urban public transportation "For
electric buse, the Olympic Game is not merely a show, but an opportunity to display
China standard about electric vehicles." Sun Fengchun said effusively, "After
Beijing Olympic Game, these 50 units electric buses will be used as Beijing Tourism
bus." Recently, Sun and his team were also very busy to welcome leaders and
experts from Tianjin, Shengyang and Dalian who want to cooperated with them to
develop and apply Beijing's electric vehicle technology. Industry
insiders predicted that electric vehicle has very brilliant potential in the future.
Countries like American, Japan and Canada has taken actions, expecting to participate
in the electric vehicle items. At
present, The foreign auto brands have dominated the most of the market share on
tranditional auto market, nevertheless, the domain of electric vehicle has been
a precious development opportunity for China. "If we seize this opportunity,
we would gain advantage in the next round of competition." Professor Sun
indicated confidently:"Those who controlled the standard and criterion will
control future."
