China's Auto Industry to Keep Strong Growth

04-03-2008

Statistics show that the country's total vehicle sales topped 859,500 units in January, rising 2.39 per cent month on month, and 19.84 per cent year on year.

At the same time, automakers have started a new round of launching new models of vehicles on the market. They put on more than ten new models on the market in January.

Industry experts held that the price hike of raw materials would bring about pressure on profitability of enterprises, but it would exert limited impact on the overall profit making of the industry.

Auto enterprises have the capability to digest the pressure from price rises of raw materials such as iron and steel products by scale expansion, adjustment of product mix, and using substitute materials.

Statistics show that China is expected to have more than 80 new models of vehicles on sales this year including both the domestically made and imported. Production expansion and increase of inventory will further accelerate market competition, and trigger price cut on low- and middle-grade vehicles.
