China's April Auto Sales Rise 14 percent
english.Chinabuses.com 2008-5-22

China's auto sales rose 14 percent in April from a year ago, led by strong sales of commercial vehicles.

The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers said Monday that passenger vehicle sales rose 10.8 percent and sales of commercial vehicles rose 20.9 percent.

Total vehicle sales in China, the world's second-biggest auto market after the United States, were 922,600 units for the month, said the group, which is authorized by the government to announce market data.

China's sales of autos, trucks and buses are booming at a time of slack growth elsewhere, driven by an economy that expanded 10.6 percent in the first quarter.
