On January 17, 2005 Xiamen Golden Dragon Van Co. Ltd. concluded an agreement for the first big export order this year. This agreement illustrates that Golden Dragon will export to Thailand 980 CKD sets of XML6793C1 city buses with the order of 500 sets in the first phase, which marks Golden Dragon's officially entry into Thailand public transportation market.

With the development in more than 10 years, the sales volume of Golden Dragon buses has increased fast in domestic market. Strategically to try to become as the world-known brand, the import&export Dept. in Golden Dragon was set up purposely to implement the export projects. As an important country in ASEAN economical zone, Thailand has been regarded as one of the key targets for Golden Dragon to explore the overseas market. Thus, marketing personals in several lots were dispatched to Thailand to carry out the investigation for market study and bus model analysis. Based on the conclusion that there was the big demand on mid-size city buses, Golden Dragon Company decided to catch such a good chance to get into Thailand public transportation market.

Golden Dragon made the contact with the buyer through the close cooperation with Bestlin company, its exclusive agent in Thailand, and tried to gain the attention and full support from Thailand Transportation Ministry and from Thai-bank section. In nearly one year of mutual visits and negotiation, it has been reached an agreement that Golden Dragon will develop a mid-size RHD city bus special for Thailand market based on its matured 8m city bus model, and that total contract volume will be 980 sets in CKD with the first order batch of 500 sets.

It is well known that the vehicles are divided into RHD and LHD according to the different driving habit. China laws define the LHD regulation while Thailand requires for RHD vehicle, so a technique group was formed in Golden Dragon to solve the problem caused by the steering change and to make the new design of key assembles for power-train system, steering system, break system, dashboard, interiors and related body structure. The sample bus was built through the optimized engineering process and adjustment and put into testing. The conclusion from the authorized testing center shows that Golden Dragon 8m RHD city bus can meet the vehicle rules in Thailand and the stable and reliable performance make the model qualify for batch exportation.

Thailand partner attached high importance to this agreement signing. The delegation of 27 members including Mr. Pichai, senior official of Dept of Land Transport as leader and other representatives from SLAM City Bank, The Government Saving Bank, Thai media, Micro Bus and Bestlin company, visited Xiamen Golden Dragon and signed the cooperative agreement at Golden Dragon headquarter. On the other side, Mr. Xu Mo, deputy Mayor and other officials of Xiamen municipal government as well as General Manager of Xiamen Auto, witnessed together this unforgettable moment as the export record of Golden Dragon.
